Plan an Event
Facilitator’s Guide
1
Pick a location and consider the technological logistics. What kind of space and equipment will you need? Will you be serving food?
4
Print and display IRAC materials such as related handouts and one-pagers to help provide your guests with background information on the topic. Before the movie or video(s), you can use them to frame the topic, and you should continue to use them during the discussion to provide useful background knowledge.
2
Select a theme that will spark an interesting discussion and provide a learning opportunity, then view the videos under that theme and choose a few to show.
5
After the movie or video, begin with some of the following general questions, and then let your guests drive the discussion in whichever direction most interests them.
What new information did you learn from the video? Were you surprised by any of this information?
Do you have any personal experiences that motivated you to care about the issues addressed in the video?
After watching the video, have you changed your opinions or formed new opinions on the topic?
How do you think you can/how do you plan to support the battle against the societal problems displayed in the video(s)?
3
Invite friends, family, and co-workers to your event. Be sure to tell them the purpose of the movie night is to learn about and discuss issues in Israeli Society and the work of the Israel Religious Action Center.
6
Closing: Thank your guests for attending, invite them to visit our website, irac.org, and subscribe to our newsletter to support or learn more about our work.
